Itinerary

  1. Our first stop gives us a feel for life in Bundeena. This small town located within the national park has an old style wharf in front of picturesque Horderns Beach. (15)
  2. Enjoy a walk on the Royal National Park Coastal Track and admire breathtaking cliff and ocean views. \n\nWe will see The Cobblers, Balconies and the Waterrun as we head through coastal heath land to Wedding Cake Rock. \n\nThere will be a number of short stops to discuss native plants (banksia, grass trees, gymea lilies) and wildflowers.\n\nIn the course of the walk an overview will be provided of some of the wildlife found in the Royal National Park and its geological formations.\n\nUpon reaching Wedding Cake Rock it is time to take in the stunning view of majestic white sandstone against the blue Pacific Ocean. \n\nIt is not very often that you will see a rock that looks like a piece of wedding cake!\n\n (120)
  3. There is the option of going a little further beyond Wedding Cake Rock and enjoying one of the most delightful and underrated beaches in the Royal National Park, Marley Beach. \n\nThis beach rarely has more than a few people on it and has a sweeping coastal heathland backdrop. Behind the beach are large sand dunes and a pristine natural lagoon. (45)
  4. Wattamolla is an aboriginal word meaning place near falling water.\n\nIt is a unique place with a waterfall fed by Cootes Creek dropping into a large lagoon.\n\nThe waterfall drops for around 10 metres into the lagoon which then meanders to Wattamolla Beach. \n\nIn the warmer months both the lagoon and beach are popular swimming spots. If interested in swimming, take your pick, freshwater or salt water!\n\nIt is a beautiful place and one of the highlights of the trip.\n\nWe also have the option of a short 15 minute walk. Your day your call on the walk! (30)
  5. Bald Hill provides a dramatic vantage point to appreciate the Illawarra Escarpment and the beaches to the south. \n\nThe city of Wollongong can be seen in the distance and you will look down on Stanwell Park Beach. \n\nWe may also be treated to the aerial activities of paragliding and hang gliding as devotees launch themself off the hill. (15)
  6. An impressive cantilevered bridge with great curves built high above the ocean and a good distance from the nearby Coalcliff Rockface (30)
  7. Symbio Wildlife Park has a koala presentation and a large number of kangaroos and wallabies\n\nThe park also has echidnas, dingoes, wombats, emus, a cassowary and Tasmanian devils along with a range of Australian birdlife, including the beautiful Gouldian Finch. \n\nTwo wedge tailed eagles have a complete enclosure to the themselves whilst there are several interesting non native animals including meerkats, tamarin and marmoset monkeys, red pandas and two cheetahs. \n\n (120)
  8. At the end of the day we have the option of stopping for a coffee or cold drink at the wonderfully restored Imperial at Clifton Hotel. This historic hotel was in decay until a local club bought it and did a first class renovation. Our guests love visiting this place, with its many original features, including numerous original fireplaces, timber windows and architraves. (30)

It’s not just the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge! \n\nA short way from Sydney’s iconic attractions are hidden gems that show the history of our city and its contemporary sparkle.\n\nHere are some of our favourites:\n\nManly Beach and North Head lookout\nSydney University and museum\nHarbour B...

Itinerary

  1. North Head has pristine heathland (including seasonal wildflowers) and panoramic views of the entrance into Sydney Harbour. \n\nThis headland is a tied island linked to Manly by a sandspit and has remnant military buildings, a memorial walk and a former quarantine station.\n (90)
  2. At Palm Beach we walk to the Barrenjoey lighthouse which was built in 1881. It dominates the headland and is a well maintained sandstone lighthouse.\n\nThe walk to the lighthouse provides outstanding coastal views of Pittwater and Lion Island and a chance to see interesting sandstone formations and the Australian bush.\n\nAfter the lighthouse we will drive along Palm Beach and have the option of stopping at Summer Bay if you are a Home and Away (a long running tv series) devotee.\n\nWe then take the back route and some wonderful coastal scenery. (120)
  3. A living work of art! Wendy's garden is a serene place in which to admire wonderful landscaping, lush plants and views of Sydney Harbour. (60)
  4. The Paddington reservoir is a submerged structure that was built in 1864. A second chamber was added to the reservoir in 1876. \nIt was constructed to store water pumped from a dam located at the Botany swamps.\nThe columns in the reservoir were constructed from ironbark timber and supported segmental brick arches. \nThe reservoir only operated until 1899. After this time it was used as a storage facility and for several decades it operated as a service station. \nHowever its roof collapsed and it ceased operating as a service station in 1990.\nIn 2006 work began to restore the reservoir and convert it into a re-imagined space. \nOriginal brick, iron and timber fixtures were salvaged and the space that formerly stored water is now a serene area which includes a roof garden and a small pool and grassed area along with stairs allowing access to the area.\nOccasionally you will see wedding photos being taken in the area.\nThe Paddington Reservoir is an oasis and a wonderful restoration project. \n (30)
  5. Barangaroo is an inner city suburb of Sydney located on the north west side of Sydney’s CBD.\n\nIt was formerly a container wharf area and has been -transformed into a residential and commercial hub. \n\nThe suburb occupies 22 hectares and includes a 6 hectare headland park (Barangaroo Reserve) which was completed in 2015.\n\nThe reserve is essentially an artificial hill, but it certainly doesn’t look like one.\n\nIt was created by a clever feat of engineering and earthworks so that a massive void, known as The Cutaway, exists underneath the parkland above.\n\nThe roof of the cutaway required the fabrication, transportation and installation of enormous concrete spans, which underpin thousands of cubic metres of rock, soil, grass and trees. \n\nThe Cutaway provides a unique area for cultural events, exhibitions, television shoots, food events and large gatherings. \n\nThis visit includes a pleasant walk on a flat path around a around the reserve providing wonderful harbour views. \n\n (60)

(180)
  3. At Palm Beach we walk to the landmark Barrenjoey Lighthouse, constructed of locally sourced Hawkesbury sandstone. \n\nOnce at the lighthouse we are spoilt with views in every direction. \n\nLooking south we can see Palm Beach, an isthmus and the Whale Beach Headland. To the north west is Lion Island and Broken Bay. Directly west is the Pittwater inlet which is much loved by boaties, fishermen and kayakers.\n\nAcross Pittwater is the lookout we will visit later in the day, West Head.\n\nPalm Beach is known for the long running Aussie soap opera, Home and Away. Filming may even be happening whilst we are there! \n\nWe return to the car and continue the adventure driving via the coast so we can get up close and personal to several delightful beaches. \n\nTime for a short stop to admire the orange sands of Avalon Beach. \n (120)
  4. The Ku-Ring-Gai Chase National Park contains one of the highest concentration of indigenous art in Australia, home to an estimated 1500 pieces of aboriginal art. \n\nOn the way to West Head we will visit ancient Aboriginal rock engravings at the Basin Aboriginal art site. Access to the site is provided by walking through a natural bush setting.\n\nNearby West Head provides one of the best views in all of Sydney. \n\nThe vista includes the isthmus at Palm Beach, Barrenjoey Headland, central coast beaches, the entrance to Pittwater and Lion Island. A truly magnificent sight! (120)

Private tour of Kiama Blowholes, Sea Cliff Bridge and Wattamolla$414.45 · 600 minutes · 5★ · 1 reviews

The day starts by heading south to the Kiama blowhole where volcanic rocks provide the perfect channel for powerful waves. \n\nIf the swell is large the spray from the blowhole shoots up to 25 metres into the air. We then proceed to the small blowhole and see yet another blowhole erupt. \n\nHavin...

Itinerary

  1. Blowholes are sometimes referred to as marine geysers and are a rare geological feature.\n\nThe Kiama blowhole is an intriguing place. As you wait for a wave to pass through the connected sea cave an air of anticipation arises. \n\nWhen a loud swoosh is heard a high pressured release of sea water occurs in the form of a spectacular spray. Just to make sure you get your fill of blowholes we visit a second contrasting blowhole which shoots a more stylish seawater plume.\n\nSydney is fortunate to have such a wonderful natural entertainment system within a 2 hour drive. (60)
  2. The Bombo Headland Geological Site is a former quarry which contains remnants of many broken rocks. Basalt lava columns still remain in certain parts of the former quarry providing a surreal site against the background of the ocean. Photographers love this place! (30)
  3. A sea cave and stunning volcanic rocks jutting out of the ocean catch our attention when we visit Cathedral rocks. (30)
  4. Minnamurra Point provides two lookouts, one for viewing whales and the other provides spectacular views of the beach and Stack Island. (30)
  5. Sea Cliff Bridge is an amazing bridge that was built to replace an existing road that required closure due to rockfalls from the enormous cliff face above it. The curvature of the road is unique and provides a breathtaking vantage point of the ocean and beach below. (30)
  6. Bald Hill is a place where you can watch hang gliders take off and sail above you. It is also a great spot to view the beaches south to Wollongong and is yet another spectacular lookout spot. (15)
  7. At this point we make our way to the Forest Track in the Royal National Park and walk through a luscious rainforest. Large hanging roots, birds nest and staghorn ferns, cedar trees and palms are a real treat. We may even get lucky and come across a lyre bird! \n\nAs our tours are flexible you can choose to replace the rainforest walk with a coastal walk to Wedding Cake Rock. Both take around the same time (90 minutes) so either walk does not throw out our busy agenda. (90)
  8. We can either do the previously mentioned rainforest walk or instead visit Symbio Wildlife Park. \n\nThis is a flexible private tour so you get choices!\n\nSymbio has an expansive area where kangaroos and wallabies roam free. \n\nOther native animals include koalas, echidnas, Tasmanian devils, wombats, dingoes, wedge tailed eagles and numerous native birds including the delightful Gouldian Finch.\n\nNon native animals located at Symbio include cheetahs, loveable meerkats, red pandas and ring tailed lemurs. \n\nYou can nominate either of these choices on the day if you cant decide now. Bondi Beach and Beyond private tour$264.39 · 360 minutes · 5★ · 1 reviews

The Eastern Suburbs of Sydney have great beaches, history and lots of vibrancy. \n\nThe day starts at Bondi Beach and the best way to see this famous beach is by taking a walk along the promenade. \n\nWe then move to the coastal walkway which winds around the scenic beaches of Tamarama and Bronte...

Itinerary

  1. Bondi Beach is a crescent shaped beach surrounded by art deco and modern buildings. \n\nIt is the home to the world’s first surf life saving club (1907) and is a great place for catching a wave, relaxing on the white beach sand or taking a swim in ocean pools at either end of the beach.\n\nWe start our visit by taking a stroll along the beach boardwalk. \n\nBondi locals will be spotted working on their physique at an outdoor gym. In the middle of the beach is the Bondi Pavillion. \n\nThe recently restored pavillion provides an open sense of space with breezy courtyards and a redesigned light filled atrium.\n\nFurther along the promenade we enjoy a series of large street murals and upon reaching the end of the promenade we take some stairs to elevated lookout.\n\nFrom the lookout we will see sun bakers, swimmers and surfers catching waves.\n\nJust nearby is the popular Bondi Icebergs, a 50 metre salt water pool that was constructed in 1929 to assist with the fitness of local lifesavers. (60)
  2. Our second beach stop is the small (only 80 metres long) but beautiful Tamarama Beach.\n\nIt has a large sandy beach area with a small park and cafe.\n\nThe name Tamarama was derived from the indigenous word gamma gamma, meaning thunder.\n\nWe can either take a short drive to reach this beach or walk to it from Bondi by way a coastal path that provides spectacular cliff and ocean views. \n\nThe walk takes around 20 minutes.\n\nThe amount of walking we do throughout the day is your call.\n\nA little or reasonable amount is no problem. \n\nTamarama is a popular surfing and swimming beach with a large rock platform on the northern side. \n\nIf the ocean swell is small swimmers may dive off the reef into the surf.\n\nAfter enjoying this wonderful beach which is a delight in full sun we visit another nearby picturesque beach, Bronte Beach. \n\nBronte Beach has the bonus of a safe rock pool and an ocean swimming pool. (60)
  3. Watsons Bay and the Gap\n\nWatsons Bay is recognised as Australia’s oldest fishing village and still offers fish for sale at several outlets.\n\nA walk to nearby Camp Cove provides access to a small, secluded harbour beach that is popular in warmer weather. \n\nA little further on is Hornby Lighthouse which provides great harbour views of the entrance to Sydney Harbour.\n\nAccess is provided by way of the South Head Heritage Trail and historical military fortifications will be observed as we walk the trail.\n\nHornby Lighthouse was built in 1857 in response to a harbour disaster in which a boat, the Dunbar, missed the entrance to the harbour and crashed into rocks and cliffs killing all people on board (121) except for one.\n\nThe Gap, which is a short walk from Watsons Bay, is a dip in the sandstone cliffs from which a wave cut rock platform can be seen by looking down at the water. \n\nThis area provides a unique introduction to Sydney Harbour and the dramatic sandstone cliffs of Sydney. (60)
  4. Paddington Reservoir is a relic from the past when Sydney’s water needs did not require Warragamba Dam and a desalination plant!\n\nThe reservoir was constructed in 1864 and was built from bricks, ironbark columns and cast iron beams which supported segmental arches and the reservoir's roof. \n\nA second reservoir was constructed next to the first reservoir in 1876.\n\nThe reservoir was decommissioned in 1899 after a larger and more elevated reservoir was built nearby at Centennial Park.\n\nAfter this time the reservoir had various uses, including operation as a workshop and petrol station, with a public park above it.\n\nOver time however it fell into disrepair and was in a semi-ruinous state. The roof partially collapsed and the walls were vandalised.\n\nIn response the City of Sydney organised for the urban renewal of the site.\n\nThe result is outstanding. The sunken garden and pond have a peaceful serene feel. The original materials have been adaptively reused and native plants introduced. (60)
  5. Barangaroo Reserve was constructed on flat concrete land formerly used as a terminal for shipping containers.\n\nIt was designed to look like the natural headland that formerly existed before industrial use in the area. \n\nA large cove (Nawi Cove) was also created next to the reserve for the purpose of recreating the pre-1836 shoreline. \n\nBarangaroo Reserve is a hill with a large area of grass known as the Stargazer Lawn. \n\nThe lawn is an area for Sydney residents to relax and enjoy the outdoors.\n\nIt is surrounded by terraced native gardens that take you down to a walkway along the harbour foreshore. \n\nUnderneath the hill is a large space known as the Cutaway that provides an area for events and cultural exhibitions. \n\nIt is a large space with its ceiling being 14 metres in height.\n\nBarangaroo Reserve is an engineering marvel with a unique hollow structure. \n\nJoin us and walk along the picturesque foreshore and see what has been achieved by this ambitious urban renewal project. Itinerary

  1. At Georges Head we gain a panoramic view of Sydney Harbour from the harbour entrance right through to the city and Harbour bridge. \n\nDue to its strategic positioning Georges Heights was fortified to protect Sydney from invasion. \n\nDefence was always on the mind of the British right back to the First Fleet days as the French left Botany Bay on the day the First Fleet sailed into Sydney Harbour (1788).\n\nIn 1839 a squadron of US Navy ships caused some consternation when they made an unannounced visit to Sydney Harbour under the cover of darkness. \n\nIn the early 1870s a Russian scare was caused by numerous visits from Russian naval vessels on 'training expeditions'.\n\nAs a consequence Georges Heights was added to the list of places deemed fit to fortify Sydney harbour and canons were positioned in this area along with a barracks for the gunners operating the cannons. \n\nGeorges Heights offers a look at both Sydney's wonderful harbour and the military history of Sydney. (45)
