by Chameleon Safaris
This 12-day camping safari covers Namibia’s main natural and cultural highlights. It begins with wildlife viewing at Okonjima Nature Reserve and Etosha National Park, including game drives from sunrise to sunset and evenings at floodlit waterholes. Afterward, the tour visits the Himba tribe at Otjikandero Village to learn about their traditional lifestyle. The route continues west to the Skeleton Coast, including a stop at Cape Cross to see the large colony of Cape fur seals. The itinerary includes several nights camping in remote locations such as Spitzkoppe granite mountains and Swakopmund, where optional adventure activities are available. Traveling south, the tour crosses the Tropic of Capricorn and visits Sossusvlei in the Namib Desert, famous for its towering sand dunes like Dune 45, Dead Vlei clay pans, and Sesriem Canyon. The journey proceeds to Namibia’s deep south, exploring the Namib Rand Nature Reserve, the ghost town of Kolmanskop, and the wild desert horses near Klein Aus. The trip ends with visits to Fish River Canyon and the Quiver Tree Forest near Keetmanshoop. Camp is set up each night except one, with meals prepared by the guide over open fires or at campsites. The return to Windhoek includes stops in small towns, with drop-off at accommodation. The whole tour lasts about 12 days and includes camping equipment, most meals, and one night in accommodation.
