Construction of Boldt Castle began in 1900, commissioned by millionaire George C. Boldt as a tribute to his wife Louise and designed as their summer home on the St. Lawrence River in the heart of the 1000 Islands. The castle was intended to rival those of Europe. However, Mrs. Boldt died suddenly months before completion, and Mr. Boldt halted all construction on Heart Island, leaving the property vacant for over seventy years.
1000 Islands Tower
The 1000 Islands Tower is a concrete observation tower on Hill Island near the U.S.-Canada border, located in Ontario. Built in 1965, it rises 400 feet (120 meters) above the St. Lawrence River and provides panoramic views of the Thousand Islands in both countries.

Zavikon Island features a 32-foot-long bridge that connects a Canadian island with an American island, considered the shortest international bridge in the world. According to the Canada-US boundary agreement, no single island is divided between the two countries.
