Overview

Crete offers varied landscapes from rugged mountains to coastal scenery. This 5-hour safari tour around Heraklion lets participants drive quads, jeeps, buggies, or monster ATVs with a guide and safety briefing included. The trip starts in the village of Karteros with a 30-minute safety and vehicle instruction session before heading mostly off-road at moderate speeds. The route includes several stops depending on the vehicle. Quad riders cross a deep stream to visit a historic cave, then climb to a hilltop with panoramic views of Heraklion and return via Passa village and Karteros gorge. Jeep and buggy drivers stop near the church of St. Irene in Skalani forest to see the old church and later visit the Mt. Juktas Ecological Park and the Archaeological site of Fourni in Archanes, including the Municipal Contemporary Theater and surrounding views. After exploring the Karteros Gorge and taking photos of the landscape, the group has lunch at a traditional Greek tavern. Weather permitting, the tour ends with a swim at Karteros beach before returning to the start. Helmets and bottled water are provided, and beginner instructions are included. The guide emphasizes safety throughout, with about 75% off-road driving at speeds of 30-35 km/h and 25% on paved roads at 50-55 km/h. Transfers are included.
