Along the way, travelers will see traditional granaries, hermitages, and crosses that mark the path through green meadows and small villages where agriculture remains important. Each day includes breakfast and luggage transportation between stages, allowing participants to walk without carrying heavy bags. The trip also provides a Pilgrim's Credential to collect stamps at each stage, documenting the journey. Travelers will find recommended local restaurants to sample Galician cuisine and regional beer after walking. Comprehensive travel insurance for foreigners is included to cover the entire duration. This tour offers an opportunity to focus on walking, reflection, and meeting others while following a historic pilgrimage route in Spain.
Sarria Arrival and Rest

Sarria to Portomarín
The first day of walking covers forests, rivers, and small rural villages surrounded by pastures on mostly flat terrain. Along the way, pilgrims will see monuments like the Church of Ferreiros and the Church of Barbadelo, plus many spots to rest and refresh. Near the stage's end, the Belesar reservoir appears, signaling arrival at Portomarín, a town relocated to higher ground due to the reservoir flooding the original site. On clear days, remains of old Portomarín can be seen underwater. Pilgrims can enjoy local food and rest here.

Portomarín to Palas de Rei
This 25-kilometer stage combines road and mountain paths including some climbs. A recommended detour is the Castro de Castromaior, an ancient Celtic settlement. After passing several villages, pilgrims can visit the monastery and church of Vilar de Donas, a Romanesque National Monument since 1931. Palas de Rei offers full services and archaeological remains such as mámoas, dolmens, and castros that reflect its castrex origins.
300 min
Palas de Rei to Arzúa
Covering 29 kilometers, this is the longest stage in Galicia on the French Way. Pilgrims are advised to take it slowly and enjoy the surroundings, which include dirt roads, forests, and medieval bridges. Upon reaching Melide, a stop is required to taste the local octopus specialty available in many stores. After regaining energy, the final kilometers to Arzúa are easier. In Arzúa, pilgrims should try the Denomination of Origin Arzúa-Ulloa cheese along with other regional products.

Arzúa to O Pedrouzo
This stage is shorter and less demanding than previous ones, with flat and comfortable terrain. Along the way, there are many bars, shops, and resting places. Santiago de Compostela is approaching, and the pilgrim custom is to go to bed early to rise early and make the most of the day in Santiago.
360 min
O Pedrouzo to Santiago de Compostela
A relatively short and easy stage best started early to arrive in time for the pilgrim's mass and to enjoy the day in Santiago. At Monte do Gozo, pilgrims experience the sensation of seeing the cathedral towers from a distance. Descending toward the city, fatigue fades until the arrival at Plaza del Obradoiro. After presenting credentials and receiving the Compostela, pilgrims can explore the old town, enjoy a beer with tapas, join local celebrations, or try regional liquors.
