Overview

Aberfeldy Distillery is located near the birthplace of John Dewar and is the only distillery built by the Dewar family. This 90-minute visit begins with a short film in the auditorium, followed by self-guided access to the heritage centre, where visitors can learn about John Dewar and his sons using audio guides or iPads available in multiple languages. After exploring the heritage centre, a professional guide leads a tour through the distillery and its warehouse. Visitors hear about the angels’ share and the double aging process that gives the whisky its smooth flavor. The tour concludes in the whisky lounge with a comparative tasting of Dewar's Blended Scotch and Aberfeldy Single Malt. Adults and seniors may enjoy a dram by the fire, while drivers can request a take-away pack to make a Maime Taylor cocktail at home. The distillery is situated on the outskirts of Aberfeldy, on the River Tay, with free parking available. Additional whisky tastings and cocktails can be purchased at the bar. The onsite shop features the full Dewar's portfolio, limited edition single cask bottlings, and the option to fill your own bottle from a selected cask. A cafe is available but food is not included. Tours run throughout the day, with the last tour starting one hour before closing. Visitors should allow about 90 minutes for the full experience. Sensible footwear is required on the distillery tour, and dogs are not permitted except for assistance dogs. The visitor and heritage centres are fully accessible, with adaptations available for those with mobility issues.
