Overview

This guided tour covers 22 miles of Acadia National Park's Carriage Roads using premium Class I e-bikes that require pedaling but provide motor assistance on hills and longer distances. The tour begins at Hulls Cove Visitor Center in Bar Harbor, where riders start by cycling uphill on Paradise Hill to view Bar Harbor, Porcupine Island, and Frenchman's Bay. The route continues east along the west side of Witch Hole Pond to Duck Brook Bridge, covering 2.5 miles. A restroom is available at this stop. Next, the ride passes a beaver pond where riders can observe beavers at work before continuing 4 miles along the west side of Eagle Lake. After Eagle Lake, the tour proceeds 6 miles along the west side of Jordan Pond, passing West Branch Jordan Stream Bridge, Cliffside Bridge, and Amphitheater Bridge. At the southern end of Jordan Pond, riders have a 20-minute break at Jordan Pond House, where they can visit the gift shop, grab quick food, or use restrooms; there is no time for full dining. The tour then covers 5 miles through forested areas with streams and ponds to reach Bubble Pond, where restrooms are available. The final 5-mile section circles the east side of Eagle Lake, continues along Breakneck Pond and the west side of Witch Hole Pond, and ends with a descent back to Hulls Cove Visitor Center. The entire trip lasts about four hours and includes an e-bike lesson, helmet, bicycle use, phone holder, and insulated basket. Groups are limited to 8 riders to maintain a comfortable pace and space during stops. Participants must be at least 16 years old.
