Overview

This half-day bike tour covers approximately 30 kilometers (18 miles) through the countryside north of Amsterdam in the Waterland region. The guided ride lasts about four hours and is limited to groups of up to 12 people for safety and quality. Participants use provided bicycles and helmets. The route passes typical Dutch polder landscapes and farmlands lying below sea level, showing how the Dutch manage water and protect their land. Cyclists travel through old fishing and farming villages, observing rural life. About halfway through the tour, there is a 30-minute break in Holysloot, a small farming village, at the former village school now operating as the restaurant 'het Schoolhuis.' Here, participants may optionally try the local apple pie. After the break, the tour continues to Ransdorp, where the guide explains the history of the 80 Years’ War and points out the tower of Ransdorp, the oldest building in the area. The final stop is at Krijtmolen d'Admiraal, a windmill built in 1792, where visitors learn about the traditional Dutch milling industry. Tea and coffee are not included.
