The Museum Het Rembrandthuis in Amsterdam is the original house where Rembrandt lived and worked in the seventeenth century. The museum reopened on March 18th, 2023, with five new rooms added, including an epilogue room, an etching attic, and a third exhibition space. Visitors follow a multimedia tour, available in 13 languages, that presents Rembrandt’s life story from his rise as a well-known artist to his financial difficulties and eventual departure from the house. The tour is designed especially for families with children. Inside the house, daily live demonstrations of etching and painting take place. In Rembrandt’s original studio, visitors see how he prepared his paint. The etching attic explains his printmaking techniques, allowing visitors to observe these processes closely.
