Rome is known for its ancient art forms, including mosaic-making that dates back centuries. This workshop lasts about two and a half hours in the afternoon, beginning at 2:00 PM in a local studio. Participants start with an introduction to traditional Roman mosaic techniques, learning about texture, composition, and how to cut marble tiles. Following the introduction, each person creates their own mosaic artwork using natural, local marble and supplied tools. The session includes tea, coffee, and bottled water. A frame and a sturdy box are provided to help store and protect the finished mosaic. Participants leave with their unique mosaic and the skills learned during this hands-on lesson. Transportation to and from the studio is not included.
