Overview

This four-hour tour includes hotel pickup and drop-off in an air-conditioned vehicle. It begins with a visit to the historic center of Rio de Janeiro, starting at Praça Quinze de Novembro, a square surrounded by important buildings such as the Palácio Tiradentes and the Paço Imperial, near the ferry terminal connecting Rio and Niteroi. The tour continues to Arco do Teles, located in the old downtown market area, known for its narrow streets filled with bars and small restaurants. Next is Cinelândia, a well-known square surrounded by historic buildings, offering good photo opportunities. The route passes by the Museu Nacional de Belas Artes, built in 1908, where the architecture is observed from outside. The tour also stops at Theatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro, inaugurated in 1909, noted for its cultural significance and architecture, viewed from outside. The Biblioteca Nacional, Latin America’s largest library founded in 1810, is another stop where the building’s exterior is admired. After exploring these ancient and historic sites in the city center, the tour proceeds to Santa Teresa for about one hour. This neighborhood features early 20th-century mansions and is known for its traditional tram dating back to 1897. Visitors can see the houses of local painters and the historic tram. The tour includes a 20-minute visit to the Centro Cultural Municipal Parque das Ruínas, a cultural center housed in a former residence that supports artists. The final stop is the Arcos da Lapa, an aqueduct originally built to transport water and now used for transportation by Santa Teresa residents. Entrance fees to museums and lunch are not included. Group size is limited to 19 passengers. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended for short walks at each stop.
