Overview

This one-hour hiking tour visits Antelope Canyon X, a slot canyon near Page, Arizona, on Navajo land. The tour begins with a short drive to the canyon entrance. A local Navajo guide leads a walk first 100 meters to view the initial slit-type canyon hidden among rocky foothills. Then the group continues 200 meters to a second gorge where the distinctive X shape formed by erosion over millions of years is visible in the sandstone walls. The guide explains how floodwaters and wind carved the Navajo sandstone. When sunlight reaches the two adjacent valleys, it creates contrasting light and shadow effects. Photography is encouraged throughout, with ample time to take pictures. The tour includes the Navajo permit fee and admission to the Antelope Canyon X or Photo Tour, with the option to upgrade for additional photography focus.

Antelope Canyon X Slot Canyon

Antelope Canyon X is located southeast of Page on Navajo Nation land in a dry riverbed. The canyon’s X shape was created by millions of years of flooding and wind erosion on Navajo sandstone. The tour begins with a short drive to the entrance. Guests hike 100 meters to the first narrow canyon, which is partially hidden in foothills and features narrow passages. Then the group continues another 200 meters with the guide to a second gorge. From above, water can be seen flowing through sand and stones. Sunlight entering the two deep valleys creates changing patterns of light and shadow. Photography is allowed throughout the hike.
