Overview

At ARTIS Amsterdam Royal Zoo, nature, culture, and heritage come together. Every tree, every creature, every building, microbe, and planet has its own story. ARTIS has been telling these stories since 1838, and each day they are born anew. You'll be amazed by the many species living side by side in the Forest House and Bird House, the giraffes, zebras, and springboks intermingling on the Savanna, countless wings fluttering in the Butterfly Pavilion, and tropical fish swimming in the Aquarium. Perhaps a trip through space inside the ARTIS-Planetarium may take your breath away, or you can go on a relaxing route and stroll through the historical city park with its centuries-old trees and wealth of plants. At ARTIS, you can experience nature and discover its significance in today's civilization – because a better understanding of nature fosters a greater respect for all forms of life. The story of ARTIS is a story about everyone and oneself. Visit ARTIS Amsterdam Royal Zoo, in the heart of the city center!
