This two-hour walking tour takes place entirely inside the air-conditioned downtown tunnel system of Houston, the largest of its kind in the United States. The tour begins with a guided walk through the underground tunnels beneath Houston’s business district, where visitors see the oldest bank lobby in downtown Houston and enter several notable skyscraper lobbies, including the most award-winning building in Texas. Along the way, the guide points out holiday decorations and shares facts about Houston’s architecture and history. The tour also includes a visit to the hotel where President John F. Kennedy spent part of his last night. Guests will explore popular local food halls accessible from the tunnels. The route continues to the JPMorgan Chase Tower, the tallest building in Texas, where visitors view a large sculpture by Joan Miró, the largest piece of his career. From this location, guests can also see the tallest pool in Texas and get a view of Houston’s Theater District, the second largest in the country. The tour guide can take group photos upon request. Our tour guide will meet guests inside the Starbucks location (914 Dallas Street, Houston, TX 77002) approximately 5 minutes prior to the scheduled start time. There is meter parking along Louisiana St and Milam St. and a Private Parking Garage located on 1110 Travis Street.*
End point
We conclude our tours at Finn Hall (712 Main St., Houston, TX 77002), a popular food hall. This is 5 blocks from where our initial meeting spot and close to all the major parking garages. Our guide will be happy to walk your group back to the original tour starting spot at Starbucks per request.
