Overview

This two-hour walking tour covers Athens’ main ancient sites with an expert English-speaking licensed guide. The route includes the Acropolis hilltop with its temples, among them the Parthenon, the Theatre of Dionysus, the Herod Atticus Odeon, the Propylaea gateway, the Temple of Athena Nike, and the Erechtheion. The guide leads the group through these landmarks, explaining their historical and architectural significance. The Parthenon stop lasts about 30 minutes, and the Erechtheion stop about 20 minutes. The Propylaea gateway includes a 15-minute visit. Groups larger than five use disposable earphones to hear the guide clearly. Tickets to the Acropolis can be included if selected in advance, allowing skip-the-line access through the ticket offices. The guide provides paper tickets at the meeting point on the day of the tour. If tickets are not included, the operator buys them in advance to avoid queuing, so participants should bring cash. The tour involves walking about one mile over uneven terrain with uphill and downhill sections and approximately 200 steps. The Acropolis hill can be slippery in wet weather. Elevator use is not available for group tours. Infants must be carried as strollers are not allowed, and all children require adult supervision throughout the tour. The guide may alter the order of stops to maintain comfort and flow. A private tour option is available with a customizable start time. Visitors are advised to bring water, a hat, sunglasses, and rain protection. ID is needed for reduced or free ticket holders. This tour is not suitable for people with mobility impairments.
