Overview

The tour starts with a walk through Athens’ main shopping district, known for its clothing boutiques, souvenir shops, and vintage items at Avissinias Square. Participants then visit the Central Market Athens, a busy place offering fresh seafood, meats, fruits, and vegetables sourced locally. Next, the group sees Hadrian's Library, a Roman ruin built in 132 CE, before heading to Plaka, the historic neighborhood with narrow streets and neoclassical buildings near the Acropolis. This three-hour walking tour includes tasting more than ten traditional Greek foods. Guests sample flaky Tiropita pastries, fresh Mediterranean seafood, creamy Tzatziki, mixed dips, crispy fried zucchini balls, and various meze plates. The tastings also feature Greek coffee, local wine, Ouzo liquor, crunchy Kouloúri sesame bread rings, olives with local olive oils, and a sweet Greek dessert called Galaktoboureko. A special secret dish is included as part of the menu. Hotel pickup is not included, and gratuities are not covered.
