Overview

This 3-hour guided bike tour in Barcelona covers both well-known highlights and less-visited spots with a local guide. The tour begins with about 15 minutes of relaxed cycling on easy, three-speed bikes with wide tires, suitable for all ages and fitness levels. The route avoids busy streets by using bike paths, alleys, and parks, with stops every few hundred yards to explain the history and significance of each location. The first stop is the Palau de la Música Catalana, a modernist concert hall in central Barcelona, where the group spends 10 minutes. Next, the tour continues for 10 minutes at Port Vell, a harbor area with yachts, shops, restaurants, a cinema, and an aquarium. The group then visits the Gothic Cathedral of Barcelona for 10 minutes to see its 500-year-old stained glass windows. After that, the Arc de Triomf is visited for 10 minutes; this triumphal arch was built as the main entrance to the 1888 World Fair. The tour proceeds to the Basilica de Santa Maria del Mar, a 14th-century Gothic church, for a 5-minute stop. Riders then cycle through Parc de la Ciutadella for 10 minutes, a 44-acre park featuring historic buildings such as the Castell dels Tres Dragons and large plant houses called the Umbracle and Hivernacle. The route passes through the El Born neighborhood for 10 minutes, known for its galleries, shops, and bars, and along the wide boulevard of Passeig del Born. The group spends about 20 minutes at the monumental Sagrada Familia church. The tour continues with a 10-minute stop at the medieval Plaça del Rei square, followed by a 5-minute visit to the former bullring Plaza de Toros Monumental. Riders pass by the beach area of La Barceloneta without stopping, then stop for 10 minutes at the Plaça de Sant Jaume, the administrative center of Barcelona and Catalonia. Helmets, insurance, and child seats are included upon request. The tour operates rain or shine, with ponchos provided in wet weather. Group sizes are limited to nine guests or fewer.
