Overview

This half-day tour begins with a walking exploration of Barcelona’s Old Town and the Raval district, starting on the famous Ramblas. The guide leads visitors through the Boqueria Market, known for its modernist architecture and variety of products. The route passes the Gran Teatre del Liceu, a key modernist opera house on the Ramblas, and the Palau Guell, a private residence designed by a young Gaudi showcasing his early architectural style. The tour continues into the multicultural Raval neighborhood, where visitors stop at the Rambla del Raval to see the large Cat Statue by Fernando Botero. From there, guests take the Montjuic funicular up to the hill and board the Montjuic Cable Car for both ascent and descent, offering wide views of the city’s skyline. At the top, the tour includes an exclusive visit to Montjuic Castle not open to the general public. The guide explains the fortress's military history and its role during the Spanish Civil War. Visitors enter the castle’s dungeons, where political prisoners were held, then climb to the Tower for a full 360-degree view of Barcelona and, on clear days, the Pyrenees mountains.
