Overview

This full-day bus tour in Beijing covers three major World Heritage Sites: Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, and the Mutianyu Great Wall. The tour begins with hotel pickup within the third ring road, followed by a 30-minute visit to Tiananmen Square where visitors can walk around the large urban plaza and photograph key landmarks. To speed up security checks during busy times, guests are advised to carry only their passport and bottled water. Next, the tour visits the Forbidden City, a 600-year-old imperial palace complex that housed 24 emperors from 1368 to 1911. The guide leads guests along the central axis through the main palaces and chambers among its 9,999 rooms, explaining their history and providing photo tips. If the visit falls on a Monday when the Forbidden City is closed, the Summer Palace will be visited instead. The tour does not include temporary exhibitions such as the Treasure Gallery or Gallery of Timepieces. After the Forbidden City, the group travels about 1.5 hours by van to the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall. Before hiking, guests have a buffet lunch with soft drinks. Visitors can then spend at least two hours walking the Wall, using either the included round-trip cable car or the chairlift up and toboggan down option; the toboggan has restrictions for children under 10 and people with certain health conditions. Following the hike, a tea break introduces guests to Chinese tea culture. The tour ends with a return drive to central Beijing and hotel drop-off. The full experience lasts about 10 to 11 hours and includes entrance fees, hotel transfers, lunch, unlimited bottled water, a professional English-speaking guide, headset for commentary, and the Great Wall cable car or chairlift and toboggan rides if selected.
