Overview

This full-day bus trip from Munich includes a visit to the Eagle's Nest, situated at 1,834 meters above sea level, where clear conditions offer wide views of the surrounding mountains. A special bus ride and tunnel lift take visitors directly to the Eagle's Nest restaurant. The guide provides a historical overview and answers questions during the visit. After returning by shuttle bus to the Obersalzberg parking area, guests have time to eat at the Berggasthof Obersalzberg restaurant or visit the Obersalzberg Documentation Center, which reopened in 2023 and includes exhibits on the area's role during the Nazi era plus access to nearby bunker complexes. Admission to the Documentation Center is included with the special bus ticket. The tour then continues to the town of Berchtesgaden for a guided walking tour lasting about 20 to 30 minutes, followed by approximately 30 minutes of free time to explore before returning to Munich. The return drive follows the German Alpine Road, passing through several Bavarian valleys. The total duration of the trip is about 10 and a half hours. If weather conditions prevent access to the Eagle's Nest, the tour extends the visit to the Documentation Center and Berchtesgaden town instead. The package includes the organization of the special bus tickets to the Eagle's Nest, a live English-speaking guide, a guided walk in Berchtesgaden, and air conditioning on the bus. Entrance fees for the special bus and lift are not included and must be paid in cash on the day of the tour. There is no hotel pickup; the meeting point is in central Munich.
