Overview

This walking tour in Bogotá lasts about 2 to 4 hours and is led by a bilingual guide who speaks English and Spanish simultaneously. The tour begins at the hostel The Cranky Croc. You start by visiting a historic square known as a cultural hub and one of the oldest areas in the city. Next, you walk to a local market to taste native fruits and traditional chicha. The route continues past Santuario Nuestra Señora del Carmen, a recently built Gothic-style church known for its candy-cane appearance. Then you visit Plaza de Bolívar, Bogotá’s main square, where you learn about Colombian culture, politics, and the changing architecture around the square. Nearby, you also pass by the Catedral Primada de Bogotá, the country’s first and most important cathedral. You walk along Carrera 7, the longest pedestrian street in Latin America, noted for a unique coin-moving feature. The tour includes a stroll along the Eje Ambiental, a channeled river that separates the city’s old and new parts. It ends at the coffee shop Magola Buen Día, where you play Tejo, Colombia’s traditional gunpowder game, while drinking hot chocolate with cheese. Snacks are included, but lunch is not provided. Group sizes can range up to 30 people, though smaller groups are preferred.
