Participants start the experience at a home located on a hilltop overlooking Sarajevo. The setting includes a garden where guests prepare traditional Bosnian dishes commonly eaten daily. The cooking session lasts about four hours and includes tasting one of the local wines from Herzegovina. Alcoholic drinks, dinner, and tea or coffee are part of the offering. Guests are encouraged to have a positive attitude and be ready to eat the food they prepare during the lesson.
Bosnian-Cooking-Lesson
The course covers all traditional Bosnian dishes. Herzegovina quality wine will be served, as it helps participants relax and be brave enough to stretch dough for Burek after a couple of glasses. Upon arrival, a welcome drink, coffee, or tea is offered, along with an opportunity to meet the hosts and enjoy the panoramic view of Sarajevo. The lesson has two parts: Part I includes onions stuffed with minced meat, rice, and spices (Sogan dolma); spinach or mangel leaves filled with minced meat, rice, and spices (Japrak); and paprika stuffed with minced meat, rice, and spices (Dolma). Part II covers Burek, phyllo dough rolled with potatoes, meat, or cheese depending on the season. Vegan and vegetarian options are available upon request. After the lesson, participants eat the prepared food and can ask questions.
