The Brighton Coastal Cycling Tour lasts about two and a half hours and covers 15 kilometers (9 miles) along the coast. The tour begins in Brighton city centre and first stops at Brighton Dome for five minutes to explain its unique design. Next, it visits the Royal Pavilion for about ten minutes to describe the history of this distinctive palace. The group then stops at Brighton Museum & Art Gallery for five minutes to learn about the building's original purpose. After that, there is a five-minute stop at Quadrophenia Alleyway. Riders cycle along Brighton Beach and pass Brighton Palace Pier, where the guide discusses the history of Brighton's three piers: Suspension Chain Pier, West Pier, and Palace Pier. The route continues past the world’s oldest functioning aquarium and the start of the oldest working Victorian railway, cycling alongside its route. The tour also passes an outdoor beach volleyball centre before reaching Brighton Marina, which has over 1,000 boats. From Brighton Marina, the tour follows most of the five-kilometer Undercliff Walk, cycling beside the English Channel with white chalk cliffs overhead. The group stops at Rottingdean Beach for about 20 minutes, where refreshments are available and participants can choose to walk or swim. Nearby Kipling Gardens, once owned by Rudyard Kipling, can be visited during this stop for about ten minutes. The return route goes through The Lanes, cycling through its narrow passages called twittens for seven minutes, and passes the Theatre Royal, one of Brighton’s oldest theatres. The tour is led by a local guide and includes the use of a bicycle and helmet. Food and drinks are not included.
