Overview

This walking tour of Bucharest lasts about two and a half hours and covers roughly 4.5 kilometers. It takes you to around 70% of the city’s main attractions, providing a broad overview of Bucharest’s history and heritage. You will be accompanied by a knowledgeable local guide who will answer your questions throughout the walk. The tour includes stops at Manuc's Inn, where you will learn about the city's origins while seeing one of its oldest buildings. You will visit Hanul Gabroveni, one of the three remaining caravan-serais from Bucharest’s trading past. At the BNR Palace area, you’ll see the historic financial district, surrounded by the National Bank, the former Stock Exchange, and other banking institutions. You will also visit Stavropoleos Monastery, representing the Orthodox Christian heritage of Romania. In front of Palatul CEC, you will learn about Bucharest’s architectural development over its 600-year history. The route includes the Royal Palace, a site connected to Romania's monarchy, communism, and democracy, and Sala Palatului, an example of Stalin-era architecture. You will also spend time in Cismigiu Park, the oldest park in Bucharest. The final stop is the Palace of Parliament, known as the world’s second-largest administrative building by size and heavier than the Pentagon.
