Overview

The Danube Bend area north of Budapest includes historic towns and scenic river views. This full-day bus tour lasts about nine and a half hours and covers several key sites in the region. The tour begins with a visit to Esztergom, Hungary’s largest Roman Catholic church, located on Cathedral Hill. From here, guests can see the river and Slovakia on the opposite bank. Visitors may enter the Basilica to view its interior. Next, the tour crosses the border briefly into Slovakia for views of Esztergom from the opposite side of the Danube. Returning to Hungary, the group travels to Visegrád, located at the heart of the Danube Bend. Here, the tour includes a 3-course lunch at a restaurant overlooking the river bend and the historic castle once used by Hungarian kings. The route passes Solomon Tower, known as a former prison associated with Count Dracula. The last stop is Szentendre, a town known for its artistic community, museums, cafés, and shops. Visitors can explore the streets and an open-air exhibition featuring young Hungarian artists. The return to Budapest is by public boat along the Danube River, available only from May to September on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Outside these times or due to low water levels, the return is by bus. Transportation throughout the day is by air-conditioned bus, and the tour includes live guiding and lunch. Drinks and hotel pickup/drop-off are not included.
