Overview

This three-hour catamaran tour departs from Portus Karalis, the marina in central Cagliari near the cruise terminal. The boat sails along the coast towards the Sella del Diavolo, passing golden beaches, white cliffs, and clear waters rich with fish. Along the way, the guide points out the main historical monuments of Cagliari as seen from the sea. The route includes views of Calamosca Beach, where old military sites and the lighthouse at Capo Sant'Elia can be seen from a distance without stopping. If sea conditions permit, the boat enters a small inlet after Cala Mosca, where there are remains of ancient buildings and an old mussel farming facility along the limestone coast. Stopping here is not allowed due to safety concerns from nearby cliffs. The tour also passes the Grotta dei Colombi, a ravine beneath white limestone cliffs linked to a local legend about a former count. The tour includes about one hour at the final stop for swimming and snorkeling using provided masks and floating tubes. Guests can also taste typical Sardinian products during this break. At the end of the tour, a glass of prosecco is served to toast before returning to the starting point. The crew on board is trained in first aid and carries a defibrillator. Carbonated beverages are included, but the Scarper drink is not provided.

Itinerary

1

Cagliari Coastline

The tour begins at the port of Cagliari with a boat passage along the coast. Passengers view the city from the sea, including main historical monuments which the guide describes. There are no scheduled stops during this part of the tour.

2

Calamosca Beach

The boat approaches Calamosca Bay but remains at a distance due to shallow waters. Passengers see old military settlements, a historic hotel, local terraces, and the lighthouse of Capo Sant'Elia. No stops occur here.

3

Small Inlet after Cala Mosca

If sea conditions allow, the boat enters a small inlet with a beach accessible by boat or a difficult path through white rock and limestone. This area shows remains of an old mussel farm and ancient buildings from various colonization periods. Stopping is prohibited due to risk of cliff collapse.

4

Grotta dei Colombi

Between Cala Fighera and Sella del Diavolo lies the Grotta dei Colombi, a ravine below white limestone cliffs. Local legend says it was the last refuge of a hated count who died there from hardship.

5

Swimming and Snack Stop

The boat anchors for about one hour to allow swimming and snorkeling. Snorkeling masks and floating tubes are provided. Guests can taste typical Sardinian food during this stop before the return journey.

6

Marina Piccola

Marina Piccola is a tourist port at the foot of the Devil's saddle on the east side, overlooking a bay where the Poetto, the 11 km long city beach of Cagliari, begins. The boat stops here only if the sea conditions do not allow anchoring again at the previous stop on the slopes of the Devil's saddle.
