Overview

The tour begins outside King's College on King's Parade, where participants meet a Cambridge University student or graduate guide wearing royal blue clothing with the Alumni Tours heraldic symbol. The walking tour lasts about 90 minutes and includes visits to several historic sites and colleges. The guide explains details about the famous clock, The Eagle pub, Corpus Christi College, Queens' College, The Backs, Trinity College, St. John's College, and the Senate House. Information covers Cambridge history, student life, university traditions, and the Oxbridge application process. If the King's College Chapel option is selected when booking, the walking tour ends with a self-guided visit to King's College Chapel lasting up to 45 minutes; this visit is unsupervised and can be ended at any time. After the walking segment and any chapel visit, there is a short break before participants proceed to Scudamore's Mill Lane punting station. The chauffeured punting tour begins about two hours after the walking tour starts if the chapel visit is not booked, or three hours after the start if it is. The 45-minute punt travels along the River Cam, passing eight colleges and nine bridges. Highlights include views of Darwin College, Clare College, Trinity College, Magdalene College, the Mathematical Bridge, and the Bridge of Sighs. The guide shares stories and historical facts about each landmark as the punt moves through the College Backs. The punt returns to the starting station at the end of the tour. This outdoor cultural tour lasts between approximately 2 hours 45 minutes and 3 hours 45 minutes, depending on the chapel option. Included are the Cambridge University student or graduate Alumni guide, chauffeured punting trip, optional entrance to King's College Chapel, and access to college gardens when available. The tour provides insight into Cambridge's history, university life, architecture, and notable alumni. Gratuities and indoor access to other structures not booked in advance are not included.
