Overview
This four-hour canyoning tour takes place at Salto do Cabrito Waterfall on São Miguel Island in the Azores, near Ribeira Grande and Caldeira Velha, about a 20-minute drive from Ponta Delgada. The tour begins at the waterfall with the distribution of all necessary canyoning equipment, including a fully equipped harness, wetsuit, socks, helmet, and boots, followed by a safety briefing. Participants then walk for approximately 30 minutes to reach the canyoning site. After a second briefing with additional instructions, the descent begins. The route includes several rappels ranging from 4 to 16 metres, passing multiple waterfalls and volcanic landscapes. There is an optional zip-line and a jump of about 3 metres. The exact itinerary and obstacles depend on local and seasonal conditions, as the terrain and water flow change throughout the year. Accredited guides lead the tour, which includes insurance coverage and photos or videos of the activity. Pick-up and drop-off are not included unless specifically arranged.
