Cape Coast Castle is a large historical fortress on Ghana’s coast, built originally by Portuguese traders in 1555 and later expanded by the Swedish Africa Company in 1653. It now functions as a museum managed by the Ghana Museums and Monuments Board and includes a gift shop with local arts and crafts. After spending about an hour here, the tour moves on to Elmina Castle, the oldest European building below the Sahara, established by the Portuguese in 1482. This castle was a key trading post and later a major site in the Atlantic slave trade. Visitors spend one hour exploring the castle and its history, including its connection to the film "Cobra Verde." The tour continues with a visit to Kakum National Park, Ghana’s most popular attraction. The main feature here is the canopy walkway suspended 40 meters above the rainforest floor, providing a unique view of the forest and its wildlife. Guests have two hours to walk the canopy and observe the surrounding environment. This day trip lasts between 11 and 15 hours and includes round-trip transportation from Accra by air-conditioned vehicle with onboard WiFi.
