A fortress in Cartagena built in 1639, located on the Hill of San Lázaro.
Fuerte de San Sebastian del Pastelillo
Located on Manga Island, this fort has 31 guns and uses ground camouflage. It replaced the Fort of Boquerón destroyed in 1741 and helped control maritime traffic in the bay.
Virgen del Carmen Statue
This 15-meter high marble sculpture weighing about 20 tons returned to Cartagena Bay on June 6, 2017, resuming a tradition of more than 30 years that was interrupted after the statue collapsed in August 2015. The statue's pieces, made of Italian white marble, fell to the seabed during heavy rain and were recovered in an operation coordinated with the National Navy. The original image was inaugurated on July 16, 1958, following a 1946 proposal to erect a large Virgin of the Sea statue in the bay. The inauguration featured a procession led by Archbishop José Ignacio López, starting at the Cathedral and ending at the walls along Arsenal Avenue.
