Overview

Step into Bendigo’s gold-mining past at Central Deborah Gold Mine, which yielded 929kg of gold during the gold rush boom, worth over $191 million today. Don a hard hat and switch on your headlamp before descending 61 metres underground on Australia’s deepest underground mine tour. Follow your guide through a honeycomb of historic tunnels, walk in the footsteps of past gold miners, experience the eerie stillness of complete darkness, see gold in its natural state, and hear vintage mining equipment roar into action. After exploring underground, discover the mine’s surface heritage, dominated by a towering 22-metre-high poppet head, and visit the historic Blacksmith’s Shop, First Aid Room, Carbide Lamp Room, and impressive Engine Room before trying your luck at panning for gold
