by Smile Organic Farm Cooking School
This half-day cooking class takes place at Smile Organic Farm, about 45 minutes from Chiang Mai’s old city near San Kamphaeng Hot Springs. The farm includes an organic kitchen garden where vegetables and herbs are grown for cooking. The class begins with a visit to a local market to observe the traditional lifestyle of the countryside locals. At the farm, participants learn how to grow vegetables and taste herbs before preparing Thai dishes using ingredients from the garden. The menu can be adapted to vegetarian or vegan preferences. Experienced instructors provide personal guidance throughout the class. After cooking, participants eat their dishes in a calm setting. All necessary ingredients are supplied, and students receive an e-book with the recipes by email. The tour includes air-conditioned transport and a photo album posted on the company’s Facebook page. The class lasts about six hours in total.
Hotel Pickup and Organic Farm Visit
Participants are picked up from their hotel or accommodation in Chiang Mai city and taken first to a local market for a brief stop before continuing to Smile Organic Farm Cooking School. Upon arrival, the menu is introduced and participants choose dishes from five fundamental Thai cooking types: making curry paste, preparing curry, stir-frying, making soup, and rolling spring rolls. Each dish can be made vegetarian or vegan, and spiciness can be adjusted. Participants then explore Thai herbs and vegetables in the organic kitchen garden before starting the cooking session. After cooking, they eat the food they prepared in a calm environment. Children aged 9 to 75 years have their own cooking stations as participants, children 4 to 8 years pay a separate fee, and children 0 to 3 years join free of charge. Finally, participants are returned to their hotel or accommodation in Chiang Mai city.
