Overview
- Religious cliff carvings from the late Tang and early Song dynasties primarily feature Buddhist themes, with Confucian and Taoist sculptures also present. - The Dazu Rock Carvings complex contains over 70 sites with more than 100,000 sculptures in total, predominantly Buddhist, making it a prime example of late Chinese grotto art. - It took over 70 years to conceive, organize, and carve, resulting in a large-scale Buddhist Tantric sanctuary with nearly 10,000 statues.
