Overview

The Century-Old Chongqing Teahouse, founded in 1902, was originally known as the "Sifang Teahouse" located at the Chaotianmen Wharf. It was founded by master pen maker Mr. Chen De'an and served as a hub for merchants traveling from north to south to rest and exchange information. After years of development, Mr. Chen De'an's son, Mr. Chen Daxing, a famous pen maker at the former Chongqing Pen and Ink Factory, inherited his father's business and carried forward the teahouse, officially renaming it "Century-Old Chongqing Teahouse" in 2002. Chongqing's "Century-Old Chongqing Teahouse" is a highly representative local cultural landmark, carrying the city's deep historical heritage and unique Jianghu atmosphere. Located in the bustling Jiefangbei area of Chongqing, stepping into it is like traveling through time, back to the era when Chongqing was opened as a port, a time when prosperity and desolation coexisted, and the common life and high culture danced together. The intangible cultural heritage performances at the "Century-Old Chongqing Teahouse" are wonderful and diverse. The long-spout teapot tea art is smooth and flowing, and the tea pouring is as precise as poetry, fully demonstrating the charm of Bayu folk customs. The Sichuan Opera face-changing and fire-spitting are completed in one go, instantly changing masks and spraying flames, which is full of tension and allows people to immersively experience the magical charm of Sichuan Opera art. Ancient magic, national trend acrobatics, and classical dance are performed in turn, which is both elegant and popular, suitable for all ages. Today, the Century-Old Chongqing Teahouse has transcended its physical space and become a living carrier of Chongqing's urban memory. It quietly follows the ever-changing development pace of the new Chongqing, and also tells every visitor the city's hundred-year historical context and profound humanistic spirit in the curling tea fragrance. Guests from all directions taste tea and watch performances here. The teahouse uses the stories of the mountain city to write about humanity and uses the light tea fragrance to soak the time. Four Bayu operas are performed here every day, including Sichuan Opera's unique face-changing and fire-spitting, Bayu folk custom long-spout teapot tea art, interactive experience ancient magic, national trend classic acrobatics, classical dance and other colorful programs to take you to appreciate the unique humanistic style of Chongqing.
