Overview

The Christchurch Sightseeing Pass allows visitors to explore three main attractions over 48 hours at their own pace. The pass includes a ride on the Christchurch Gondola, which travels to the summit of the Port Hills and provides views of the city, Southern Alps, and Banks Peninsula. Visitors can relax at the summit cafe during their visit. It also includes a ride on a handcrafted Avon River Punt, offering a 30-minute cruise along the river known for its diverse wildlife and recreational activities. Additionally, the pass provides an all-day hop-on hop-off ticket for the Christchurch Heritage Tram, which runs through key downtown areas with commentary about the city’s landmarks and history. Each attraction can be visited separately within the 48-hour period. The tram ticket allows unlimited boarding throughout its operating hours, while the Gondola and Punt have specific time frames. Pass holders need to prebook their Punt cruise time by contacting the supplier before arrival. Tickets are collected either at the Booking Office in Cathedral Junction or directly at any of the attractions. Transport to and from the Gondola is not included, but public bus service is available. Some accessibility is available: certain trams and the Gondola can accommodate wheelchairs within size and weight limits, but the punt cruise cannot. Increased visitor numbers, especially during cruise ship visits, may cause wait times at the attractions. Small steps and handrails are provided on the trams, and a wheelchair hoist is available at Cathedral Junction stop 1.
