This full-day bus tour traces the route of an ancient river carved by the Ice Age along the Columbia River Gorge. Starting in downtown Portland at Director Park, the tour heads east to Troutdale and follows the Historic Columbia River Highway. The first stop is Vista House at Crown Point, located 733 feet above the river on ancient lava flow remnants, where visitors can explore the observatory and enjoy wide views of the gorge. Next, the group drives further into the national scenic area to see Latourell Falls, which plunges 249 feet over basalt columns. A brief trail walk is offered depending on the season. The tour continues to Multnomah Falls, Oregon’s tallest waterfall at 620 feet and the second tallest in the US. Visitors can see the falls from the viewing platform near the historic stone and timber Multnomah Falls Lodge built in 1925.
