Daegwallyeong is located in a highland area, so temperatures can be noticeably cooler than in Seoul. Bringing a light jacket is recommended even in warmer seasons. Wear comfortable walking shoes, especially when visiting the ranches and Balwangsan Skywalk, as some areas involve slopes and outdoor walking. Weather in the mountains can change quickly, and cable car or outdoor facilities may be temporarily suspended due to strong winds or bad weather. Autumn and winter are especially popular seasons: autumn offers colorful highland scenery, while winter transforms the ranches into beautiful snowy landscapes. Autumn foliage and snow scenery are seasonal and depend on weather conditions. The timing and intensity of fall colors or snowfall cannot be guaranteed. The journey between Seoul and Pyeongchang is relatively long, so travelers prone to motion sickness are advised to prepare medication in advance.
