Overview

This day trip from Cairo to Luxor by plane lasts between 10 and 12 hours. The tour begins with a hotel pickup in Cairo around 3:30 am, followed by a transfer to the domestic airport for a flight to Luxor. Upon arrival in Luxor, a professional guide meets the group and provides transportation in a private air-conditioned vehicle. The first stop is the Valley of the Kings, where visitors spend about one hour exploring the rock-cut tombs of pharaohs and nobles from the New Kingdom period, dating from the 16th to 11th centuries BC. Next, the tour visits the Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari, located beneath cliffs on the west bank of the Nile. This temple, built for the Eighteenth Dynasty pharaoh who died in 1458 BC, is visited for approximately one hour. The tour then continues to the Colossi of Memnon, two large stone statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III standing on the west bank of the Nile since around 1350 BC, where visitors spend about one hour. Afterward, the group travels to the Luxor Temple on the east bank of the Nile, a temple complex constructed around 1400 BC dedicated to the renewal of kingship, with a one-hour visit. The final site is the Karnak Temple Complex, located 2.5 kilometers north of Luxor, which includes a large collection of temples and pylons built over many centuries from the Middle Kingdom through the Ptolemaic period. Visitors spend about one hour exploring this complex. Lunch featuring local Egyptian dishes is included at a local restaurant during the day. All entry fees for the sites visited are covered, and bottled water is provided throughout the tour. The entry to the Tomb of King Tutankhamun is not included. Around 10 pm, travelers return to Luxor airport for the flight back to Cairo. Upon arrival in Cairo, a representative assists with the transfer back to the hotel. Domestic flights are subject to availability and are confirmed at the time of booking. A copy of the passport photo page is required during booking.
