The first stone of this church was laid on August 30, 1864, by the Duke of Morny. Built by architects Desle-François Breney and Anatole Jal, it was blessed on July 30, 1865. The church is surrounded by a walled garden, and its cemetery is located on the Mont Canisy heights outside the city.
