Overview

This boat tour on Basse-Terre Island lasts between four and five hours and offers a discovery of the mangrove and its lagoon in seven stages. The trip takes place in the Great Cul-de-Sac Marin and includes four swimming or snorkeling stops. These stops are at a shipwreck, a starfish site, a natural swimming pool, and within the maritime mangrove. The boat passes by White Island, a fragile sand island important for tern reproduction, Bird Island, where frigates, brown pelicans, snowy egrets, and terns can be seen, and the Fairing Islets. A thirty-minute stop occurs in a dense mangrove area with abundant wildlife. There is also a one-hour swim in the mangroves to observe the ecosystem and fish nurseries among the roots. The tour is conducted in small groups following National Park environmental guidelines. Snorkeling equipment including fins, masks, and snorkels, as well as life jackets and binoculars, are provided. Carbonated and alcoholic beverages, fruit juice, and fresh produce are served on board or while standing in the water. The captain provides detailed explanations about the ecosystem and wildlife throughout the tour. This tour is suitable for children aged three and older.
