This full-day tour starts early in Dublin with a train ride to Cork followed by a coach transfer through Cork City to Blarney Village. You will spend about three hours at Blarney Castle, which is over 600 years old, where you can explore the castle grounds, kiss the Blarney Stone, and visit the gardens. There is time for shopping and lunch in Blarney Village, which is the only planned meal break during the day. After leaving Blarney at around 1:30 PM, the coach travels to Cóbh with a brief city tour of Cork en route. At the Cóbh Heritage Centre, you will spend about an hour and a half learning about the town’s history, including its time as Queenstown during Queen Victoria’s visit in 1849, its connection to the RMS Titanic’s final port of call, and details about Irish emigration during the Great Famine. The centre also covers the Lusitania sinking off Cork’s coast and Cóbh’s role as the Irish Navy headquarters, where navy ships are often visible. The tour uses a combination of train and coach transport and lasts about 12 hours in total. Upon arriving in Cork at 09:35, the group transfers by coach through Cork City to Blarney Village and the historic Blarney Castle, which is over 600 years old. Cóbh was renamed Queenstown in 1849 to honor Queen Victoria’s visit, returning to the name Cóbh in 1922 after Irish independence. The heritage centre focuses on the town’s role as the last port of call for the RMS Titanic, the Great Famine and Irish emigration with about three million emigrants leaving mainly for the United States. It also covers the torpedoing of the Lusitania off Cork’s coast during World War I and the survivors brought to Cóbh. As the base of the Irish Navy, visitors can often see navy ships docked in the harbour.
