Overview

This dynamic full-day tour in Tokyo lasts about nine hours and includes air-conditioned transportation with a licensed English-speaking guide. The tour starts at the Imperial Palace Plaza, where participants spend about 30 minutes viewing the Nijubashi Bridge and the palace grounds, which were formerly a private garden of the Royal Family. Next, the group travels to Asakusa for a one-hour visit to Senso-ji Temple, Tokyo's oldest temple. Visitors see the Kaminarimon Gate, a statue of the god of thunder, the five-story pagoda, and walk along Nakamise Street, a 250-meter shopping street with traditional snacks and souvenirs. After this, the tour continues with a one-hour matcha tea experience at Kaminari Issa, a casual setting where participants watch a video on preparing matcha, grind tea leaves with a millstone, and enjoy matcha green tea served with jonamagashi, a traditional Japanese sweet. This is not a formal tea ceremony. Following the tea experience, the group has a buffet lunch at a hotel offering international cuisine. After lunch, participants board a boat for a Tokyo Bay cruise lasting about 50 minutes from 3:00 pm to 3:50 pm. The cruise passes under the Rainbow Bridge and includes one serving of coffee or tea. The tour ends with a 45-minute visit to Tokyo Tower, where guests can access the main observatory 150 meters above ground for panoramic views of the city. Admission to the special observatory at 250 meters is not included. The tour covers all transportation, lunch, the matcha tea experience, the bay cruise fare, and admission to the main observatory at Tokyo Tower. The itinerary order may change due to traffic or other conditions.
