The French Broad River itself runs 218 miles from Rosman through Asheville toward Tennessee. This trip covers approximately 5 miles of Section 9, mostly flowing through protected lands. The rafting route features continuous rapids primarily at class II and III difficulty levels, with occasional brief class IV drops depending on rainfall and the season. The total duration of the trip is around four hours. Participants receive safety gear including a helmet, life jacket, and paddle. An expert guide steers the raft through the rapids.
