This one-day tour is divided into four free activity periods, covering Mojiko Port, Kokura Castle, a choice of two venues, and Mt. Sarakura night view. Many attractions require an additional fee, including crossing the Kanmon Strait to visit Shimonoseki landmarks. First stop, Mojiko Port, Kitakyushu (approx. 130 minutes): A century-old retro trading port with the Kaikyo Plaza and Minatoya for purchasing local specialties, and several historic Western-style buildings converted into cafes. Key paid attractions include the Kyushu Railway Memorial Museum and the 1921 Old Moji Mitsui Club (where Einstein once stayed), with Mojiko baked curry as a special local dish. You can take a 10-minute ferry ride to Shimonoseki for 400 yen one way (at your own expense) to visit the weekend-only Karato Market seafood market, Li Hongzhang Road and Shunpanro, which bear the history of the Treaty of Shimonoseki, and Akama Shrine, a unique Ryugu-style building. Second stop, Kokura Castle (approx. 50 minutes): A reconstructed ancient castle from 1959, with Yasaka Shrine, a pond-stroll garden, and the Seicho Matsumoto Memorial Museum within its grounds. You can purchase tickets separately or opt for a multi-attraction pass; in spring, 300 Yoshino cherry trees bloom around the castle, and there are illuminated night cherry blossoms. Third stop, a choice of two attractions (approx. 140 minutes): The Museum of Life and Earth, exhibiting dinosaur fossils and Earth's evolutionary history (with a closure period for disinfection in early 2027); or the Kitakyushu Outlet Park, opened in 2022, with over 170 brands for one-stop shopping and enjoying Kyushu cuisine. Concluding with Mt. Sarakura night view (approx. 50 minutes), one of Japan's new top three night views, known as the "ten million dollar night view." A round-trip cable car ticket must be purchased at your own expense. On clear days, you can see the strait and Shimonoseki in the distance, with the best viewing in winter.
