Overview

This full-day private tour of Tangier lasts about 6 to 7 hours and includes a licensed guide and private transportation with air conditioning. The tour begins with views of the Mohammed V Mosque and the Marshan Palace, once the seat of the Tangier International Zone’s Legislative Assembly. It continues with a visit to Parc Perdicaris, a forest known for the 1904 kidnapping of American Perdicaris. Next, the tour reaches Cap Spartel, a promontory 300 meters above sea level at the meeting point of the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. Below the cape lie the Hercules Caves, which have two entrances, one from the sea shaped like the African continent. Visitors will also enjoy a camel ride on Achakkar beach. The itinerary includes a visit to the Tangier Kasbah, where Sultan Moulay Ismail built his palace and gardens. The Kasbah Museum of Mediterranean Cultures follows, showcasing archaeological and ethnographic exhibits. The tour stops at Jardin de la Mendoubia, a green city park near Place du 9 Avril 1947, before continuing to the Tangier American Legation Museum, the first American public property abroad. The Moshe Nahon Synagogue, built by a prominent banking family, is also part of the tour. The longest stop is in the Medina of Tangier, where visitors have about three hours to explore markets, shops, and traditional craft workshops. There is time to shop and try Moroccan food on terraces overlooking the old city. Included are entry fees to the Berber market, Hercules Caves, Kasbah, Medina, and Moshe Nahon Synagogue, plus coffee, tea, or orange juice, bottled water, on-board WiFi, and pickup and drop-off anywhere in Tangier including cruise ship terminals. Lunch and tips are not included.
