Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park
Brimstone Hill Fortress was built intermittently from the 1690s to the 1790s and represents a well-preserved 18th-century military community. It features a polygonal style of fortification and sits nearly 800 feet above sea level on a volcanic hill. The fortress walls are made from local volcanic stone cemented with limestone mortar produced onsite. The location offers panoramic views of forested mountains, cultivated fields, Sandy Point town, and nearby Dutch, English, and French islands.

Black Rocks is a volcanic rock formation on the northeastern coast of St Kitts near Saddlers. The rocks are lava flows from Mount Liamuiga, the island’s central volcano dominating the northern half of St Kitts.

Romney Manor
Set on about 8 acres, Romney Manor has history dating to the 1600s and evidence of Carib Indian presence before European conquest. The estate was mainly used for sugar cane cultivation for around 350 years until the mid-2000s. Since the 1970s, it has housed Caribelle Batik. The gardens include a large Saman tree over 400 years old, covering half an acre and 24 feet in circumference.

Wingfield Estate lies next to Wingfield River in a rainforest near Old Road Town, with foothills rising over 3000 ft. The estate includes a watershed supplying more than three-quarters of the island’s water. It contains 17th-century Amerindian petroglyphs and was the first English West Indies land grant in 1625. Originally cultivated for tobacco and indigo until the 1650s, sugar cane was grown there for 350 years. Cane crushing used animal, water, and steam power, with water power operating from the 1600s to the 1920s.

Saint Theresa Catholic Church, Charlestown
The Co-Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception is a grey stone church on the east side of Independence Square. Built after the original church was burned in 1706, the Catholic congregation was reduced after 1713 when public Catholic worship was banned in St Kitts.
The Pro Cathedral & Parish of St George with St Barnabas
St. George’s Anglican Church is the largest church in Basseterre, built with heavy andesite rock walls and a slate roof. The church has been rebuilt multiple times after fires. It was first established in 1635 by Capuchin Friars to serve French colonists and convert the remaining Kalinago population. In 1646, Jesuits replaced the Capuchins and built a church called Notre Dame in 1672.
Independence Square
Independence Square, formerly Pall Mall Square, was renamed in 1983 to mark St Christopher and Nevis’s independence. It is designed in the pattern of a Union Jack and is bordered by streets and houses dating back to the mid-18th century, though some original buildings have been rebuilt after fire or damage.
