Overview

This full-day group bus tour lasting about 14 to 15 hours focuses on three important monasteries in Armenia. The visit begins at Khor Virap monastery, a key site linked to Armenia’s adoption of Christianity in 301, featuring the prison dungeon of Saint Gregory The Illuminator and views of Mount Ararat. Next, the tour travels along a narrow road surrounded by rocky caves to Noravank monastery, known for its 13th-century Armenian architecture and the unique two-story Church of the Holy Mother of God. The final stop is Tatev monastery, once the wealthiest medieval monastery and a strategic fortress in the Syunik kingdom. Located on a naturally defended site, Tatev has secret passages leading to the nearby canyon. After exploring Tatev, the group rides the Wings of Tatev, the world’s longest cable car without stops, which spans 5.7 kilometers over the Vorotan River gorge and forested hills. The cable car trip lasts about 11 minutes and connects the hilltop terminal near the village of Halidzor with the Tatev monastery area. The tour includes air-conditioned transport, a professional guide speaking English and Russian consecutively, WiFi on the vehicle, admission tickets including the Tatev ropeway, bottled water, and pastries. Lunch is not included and the price for it ranges from 3900 to 4900 AMD. The tour departs and returns to the Hyur Service point in Yerevan.
