Overview

This guided ascent to Villarrica Volcano from Pucón is a full-day mountain climb lasting between eight and eleven hours. The tour begins with private transportation from Pucón to Villarrica National Park, where the volcano is located. Certified guides provide all necessary mountain equipment, including shoes, leggings, trouser and jacket covers, two pairs of gloves, a 35-liter backpack, helmet, crampons, ice ax, and a gas mask. Entrance to Villarrica National Park and accident insurance are included. The climb leads to the summit of Villarrica Volcano, which stands at 2,847 meters above sea level and is Chile's most active volcano. The volcano has an open crater that continuously emits gases, and depending on volcanic activity, magma may be visible inside the crater. When snow covers the volcano, the descent is done using sleds, allowing participants to slide down the entire volcano while seated, a feature unique to this mountain. Photos and videos of the climb are provided, and carbonated beverages are supplied during the tour. Lunch is not included, so participants should bring their own trekking clothes, sunglasses, and sunscreen.
