This self-guided bike tour in Maui begins near the entrance of Haleakala National Park at an elevation of 6,500 feet. Participants ride a custom Kona mountain bike downhill for about 15 miles along the volcano’s slopes and switchbacks, ending in the North Shore town of Haiku. The ride takes approximately five hours. Included are a Da Kine backpack, Helly Hansen windbreaker top and bottom for weather protection, a Bell helmet, and transportation with air conditioning from the operator’s base to the park entrance. Hotel pickup is not available. Riders must bring their own water and snacks. Participants must be at least 15 years old, at least 4 feet 10 inches tall, have recent biking experience, and be physically capable of this activity. Closed-toe shoes are required. Certified guides are available for safety support, but the bike ride is self-guided. Guests must understand and acknowledge the risks involved.
