Overview

This half-day tour begins with pickup in San Juan and a drive through several towns to reach El Yunque National Forest, the only subtropical rainforest in the United States Forest Service system. The total duration is about five hours. The vehicle is air-conditioned for comfort. The first stop is Catarata La Coca, a well-known waterfall where visitors can take photos. Next, the tour continues to Torre Yokahu, a tower that can be climbed to see panoramic views of the eastern coastline, including Luquillo and Fajardo. After visiting the tower, the guide leads a 30 to 45-minute walk on a trail with uneven terrain that goes up and down through the forest. Entry fees to El Yunque National Forest and all local taxes are included. Food, drinks, and gratuities are not included. The tour guides have special training from the Forest Service and hold permits to enter the forest. Masks must be worn over the nose and mouth while inside the vehicle. Pickup is only provided within San Juan, and there is no space for luggage on the bus, only small personal bags are allowed.
